From modern classics to niche animated films, we want to bring our all-time favourites to our cinema and back on the big screen. Each staff member introduces their favourite film and shares why this film is so special to them. We will take you on a ride, through our personal cinephile journey, and want to share a laugh, a tear and goosebumps with you. Ida will be introduced by Pier on Wednesday January 21 Please Note: Ida has English Subtitles
A young novitiate in 1960s Poland is ready to take her vows to become a nun. Before dedicating her life to God, she hears from superiors in the convent she has an aunt who is still alive. They urge her to meet with her before taking her vows. She is transported into an experience in which she learns about life contrary to the one she has lived for so long.

Ida explores identity in a subtle way that sets it apart from most other modern films. Rather than explaining or dramatizing it heavily, it lets meaning come through silence. Watching it on the big screen makes these elements clearer and more powerful.
